Foshan Rouxia Jiu-Jitsu was founded in 2017, now it belongs to the Swiss Frota Academy team and the Tsibizov Team Jiu-Jitsu HQ Shanghai, China, now is Method.

The head coach of Method in China, the black belt, Viktor Tsibizov, comes to the Foshan branch every quarter to give lectures and conduct assessments for promotion.

The Foshan branch includes two gyms. One of them is located on Yating International, Fenjiang South Road, Chancheng District, and the second one on the 4th floor of Wangfujing Shopping Plaza. There are adult classes, children’s classes and parent-child classes all year round.

About us

Foshan has been known as the hometown of Chinese martial arts since ancient times and an important industrial and commercial town in Guangdong.

In 2015, by chance, Donald meets Canadian businessman Pierre in Rak Thai Muay Thai Gym. Pierre was the blue belt and just built up a Jiu-Jitsu group for fun, but all the members of the group fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu immediately, that’s why they decided to co-found the BJJ club, after that they invited the black belt coach from abroad to organize a training camp.

In 2015, Donald, the head coach in Method Foshan, took part in the GZ Jiu-Jitsu Tournament where he met Viktor Tsibizov for the first time.

In 2016, Rak Thai Muay Thai Gym hired Canadian coach Matt, a brown belt, to Foshan for working as a head coach.

In 2017, Matt presented Donald with a blue belt, after which he returned to Canada.

In 2019, Matt returned from Canada and together with Donald opened the Nomad Jiu-Jitsu gym, a small part of which Method shares with the crossfit gym.

In 2020, they moved to a new location, but because of COVID-19, Matt had to return to Canada again, so that’s why Donald had to manage the gym on his own.

In 2021, the team showed a decent result at the competitions in Foshan and Shanghai.

In 2022, coach Matt decided not to return to Foshan, so Donald turned to Viktor Tsibizov with an offer of cooperation. In the summer of 2022, after long and serious negotiations, Augusto Frota and Viktor Tsibizov approved the joining of Donald’s team to the Frota Academy under the leadership of the head coach and black belt, Viktor Tsibizov.

In the winter of 2022, a new gym, focused on BJJ for children, was opened in Wangfujing plaza. Jiu-Jitsu is developing more slowly in China than in other regions, but Method Foshan is catching up very quickly. We sincerely believe that Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most suitable sports for children, and we are seriously approaching the development of a children’s BJJ program. There is no doubt that one day Method Foshan will raise a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion!
